It is a huge relief this week for FC Barcelona supporters as we found out that Lionel Messi will not be charged for tax fraud. However, his father is under the gun at the moment. Even though Messi isn't fit to play for a couple more months, these past events certainly have effected him mentally. Hopefully Lio can get back on both feet (literally) and play through these issues.
In recent news it has been confirmed that Messi and his father will stand trial for tax evasion. Do you think having the idea of a 22 month sentence in jail will effect the way he plays this season? This will be an interesting case to follow and will certainly have a major impact on F.C. Barcelona and La Liga.
How detrimental do you think this is for Messi? Sure, it'll affect his mentality on the field. But let's consider Lionel Messi as a business. Whether or not this trial rules in his favor, how problematic will it be to continue marketing Messi in the way he has been previously? He is always seen as an upstanding, moral guy. Do you think his fans and supports will look at him differently? Will it be harder to market him as an ethical hero?
