Eugenie Bochard sues US Tennis Association for slipping and falling in the locker room during the US Open. She has been in severe pain due to the bad concussion and economic loss with having to withdraw out of several tournaments due to the accident in September. The tournament didn't have a sign that said the floor was just cleaned and be careful which led to the accident.
The US Tennis Association will have a difficult time trying to win this case. They have put themselves in a bad position for their future and their company has a whole. The US Tennis will be losing millions on this case but will hopefully learn to keep their players safe as much as their fans/customers.
Do you think this situation will affect the US Tennis Assoication in the future?
I have just a few questions here. First of all, how much is she suing the US Tennis Association for? I think that's important because it determines how severely it will affect the Association if she wins.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it would be interesting to know if there is any law or regulation that says there must be a sign notifying people that the floor was just cleaned. I'm sure that the Tennis Association could just say she was acting negligently and that's what caused the accident.
Have there been any cases before of professional athletes suing for an injury caused on site? This is an interesting case but I agree with Carrick that it would be interesting to learn more about the regulations regarding when a warning should be included, or if it is up to the athlete to be careful themselves.
